With over 11 years experience working with security cameras and other low-voltage systems, a passion for technology and a commitment to affordability, I can confidently say that I am the most cost-effective solution for security camera installation in the greater Austin area. As a sole owner/operator of Reliant Controls, I enjoy relatively low overhead. I have no secretary and I work out of my home, passing savings on to you.
In Austin for 3.5 years now, I've been privileged to be busy doing what I love to do: security camera installation customization and installation. I've done fiber-optic installations in banks, fire stations, and, more specifically, the DPS Headquarters in Lubbock, TX. I've installed 32-story fiber-optic backbones in three Austin high rises downtown. A recent job was a 12 camera security system at a 7-11 in Killeen, TX. As a low voltage technician, I am able to do networking, cable TV, and satellite TV work. I also do digital signage and install digital and analog phone systems if that is what you are looking for.

Meet King Mahon - Austin's Security Camera Guy
http://reliantcontrols.com TRANSCRIPTION: Hi, my name's King. I'm the security camera guy. I'm right here in Austin, TX, and you may have heard people are viewing their security cameras on their smartphone now. This is one of the coolest things going. To find out more about it, visit my website at reliantcontrols.com. Let me just give you a brief overview. iPhone, Android, Symbian, Blueberry [ha-ha], Windows Mobile, all of these formats are supported and these apps that you get are free. Ok, so once I've installed your DVR and we check with your router to make sure it can support port forwarding, you're up and going. Your DVR acts as a server, constantly serving these files up to the Internet. When you want to retrieve them to view them, you just pull it up one camera at a time or four cameras at a time and look at what you've got. Of course the whole time your DVR is recording so if you want to go back and look, see what happened five minutes ago or what happened last week, you can always do that. [note: smartphones only support live streaming right now, log in with a computer to see recorded video] It's a very empowering technology. I'm pleased to be associated with it. And let me tell you the response from my company has been great here in Austin. I kind of took a gamble with it a few years ago thinking 'hey, we need a business for installing security cameras' and I already had about a decade of experience as a networking guy and a cable guy and everything like that and I said 'let's give it a try' and the response has been real good. I'm proud to be part of the Austin community here and in particular providing security camera services and empowering people especially with these new smartphone apps.
What is the Crystal Ball Effect?
http://reliantcontrols.com/ TRANSCRIPTION: One of the most interesting developments in the security camera industry is what I call the Crystal Ball Effect. In other words, from the beginning of time, man has always wanted to know, well, what's going on at my house or what's going on at my business while I'm not there. And so we have the crystal ball analogy. Well guess what. They've got crystal balls now and it is a security camera system with a DVR and a broadband Internet connection and a smartphone. And you download your smartphone app and you're looking at your cameras at home. You know the kids might say they're mowing the lawn. Are they really? Let's find out.
Technology is Empowering People
http://reliantcontrols.com/ TRANSCRIPTION: A lot of my customers now are using their security cameras and smartphones more to manage their businesses, in fact, than really for the security aspect. It allows you to manage your businesses while you're not there. Remotely. And you know what's going on because you're looking at it on your phone. It's a great ability and I'm really pleased that I'm able to provide this to people. I'm in the business of selling peace of mind. I sell products that empower people. That is the business I'm in and we are at a time in technology right now where these things have become very affordable and I've got years of experience installing this surveillance equipment.
